Accepting a nursery place:

  1. The nursery team will contact you if they have a place they can offer you. If you do not respond within seven working days, the normal practice will be that the offer is withdrawn and the place will be offered to the next eligible parent on the waiting list.
  2. Once a place has been allocated a contract is agreed between you and the nursery management and you will be required to pay £150 as a deposit to secure your place. This deposit will be refunded to you (normally deducted from your first month's fees) when you take up the accepted place.
  3. If your circumstances change and you decide not to take up the accepted place, your £150 deposit will be refunded to you if you give a minimum of 6 calendar weeks notice.
  4. If you provide the nursery with less than 6 calendar weeks notice, your £150 deposit will be forfeited.
  5. The nursery will arrange settling in sessions for your child before they officially start at the nursery. This will help you and your child to adjust to the new routine and environment.
  6. If you are a University of Cambridge staff member, accepting a staff place, you will be eligible to pay for fees through the Workplace Nurseries' Salary Exchange Scheme  Please note: Cambridge University Press and Assessment has its own Workplace Nurseries' Salary Exchange Scheme; for further details see Family Friendly on Insight.
  7. Once you have taken up a place, if you unexpectedly need to take a long period of absence (in excess of 4 weeks) from the nursery because of work, emergency, illness etc. please contact Childcare Services and nursery to discuss. If an extended period is agreed, full nursery fees must still be paid.
  8. You are entitled to remain on the waiting list for a University Nursery place while accepting a place at another University Nursery. You must let us know by email that you wish to be added back onto the waiting list.
