Children laughing together

We are committed to providing an inclusive environment and ensuring that are services are accessible to all children in the community. Our childcare provision is designed with the individual needs of children in mind and we strive to provide the best care possible for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Our accessible facilities reinforce engagement and inclusion of all children, and specialist support is provided by experienced Playworkers when needed. If your child has SEND or an Early Health Care Plan (EHCP), please contact us to discuss how we can provide extra support to make Playscheme a safe and enjoyable place for them.

For both holiday provisions, we are able to apply for two sources of funding to support children with SEND throughout the school year.

Childcare Access Funding

  • Intended to support children with the very highest levels of needs at out of school hours childcare, including before and after school clubs, holiday schemes and care with childminders
  • An application for funding will be made by us, following an initial discussion with you and using supporting information from your child's EHCP and any other people working with your child
  • Cambridgeshire County Council - Childcare Access Funding

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Fund

Please see our SEND Fund page for more information. Contact playscheme@admin.cam.ac.uk if you feel you are eligible for either sources of funding.

If your child is in need of additional support during the school holidays, we may not always be able to accept a booking for the next holiday. We must ensure that we have the time to make necessary provision for your child by employing an experienced member of support staff and applying for funding (if both child and family meet set criteria), which is not always possible with limited time available before the next holiday begins.
