Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive playscheme where all children feel safe, supported and able to enjoy their time with us.
Our holiday provision is designed to meet the diverse needs of children in our community. We work in partnership with families to understand each child as an individual and to provide appropriate support wherever possible.
Inclusive care and support
Our teams are experienced in supporting children with a wide range of needs. Where appropriate, children are supported by experienced Playworkers, and our facilities are set up to encourage participation, accessibility and inclusion.
If your child has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), we strongly encourage you to get in touch with us in advance. Early conversations help us understand your child’s needs and explore how we can support them to have a positive and enjoyable playscheme experience.
Additional support and funding
For our holiday provision, there are two potential sources of funding that may be available to support children with SEND during school holidays.
Childcare Access Funding
This funding is aimed at children with the highest levels of need attending out‑of‑school childcare, including:
- Holiday playschemes
- Before and after school clubs
- Registered childminders
Where families meet the eligibility criteria, we will make the funding application on your behalf following an initial discussion with you. Applications are supported by information from your child’s EHCP and, where relevant, professionals involved in their care.
SEND Fund
Further details about this funding are available on our SEND Fund page.
If you think your child may be eligible for either funding stream, please contact us to discuss this as early as possible.
Planning ahead for additional support
In some cases, children may need additional staffing or tailored support during the school holidays. To put these arrangements in place responsibly, we need enough time to:
- Assess support requirements
- Recruit suitable experienced staff
- Apply for funding (where eligibility criteria are met)
For this reason, we may not always be able to accept late bookings for children who require additional support if there is limited time before the holiday starts. We appreciate your understanding and encourage families to contact us as early as possible so we can explore options together.
