Nursery fees are the same for all ages and are agreed annually. Increases are finalised in line with contractual arrangements between the University and nursery management.  There are no refunds for holidays.

As a staff member you will be eligible to pay for fees through the Workplace Salary Exchange Scheme.  Please note that if you accept a student place, even if your partner is a staff member, you can not pay your fees via the Workplace Salary Exchange Scheme.

Early Years Funding

Early Years Funding (EYF) is a national scheme that funds part-time education for all 3 and 4-year-olds from the school term after they turn 3, for eligible 2-year-olds from the school term after they turn 2 and for eligible 9-month-olds the school term after they are 9 months old.  The relevant school term dates are 1 April, 1 September and 1 January.  For more information and to find out if you are eligible for any funded hours of childcare from the government, please go to Homepage | HMRC Childcare Choices

Your nursery will discuss the EYF with you and will help you to identify how many sessions you are able to take.

There are four types of Early Years Funding:

  • The universal entitlement is 15 hours per week for all 3 and 4-year-olds.  This is applied for through the nursery.
  • The extended entitlement (30 hours) is an additional 15 hours for eligible working parents of 3 and 4-year-olds.
  • The expanded entitlement (15 hours) is an additional 15 hours for eligible working parents of 2-year-olds (from April 2024)
  • The expanded entitlement (15 hours) is an additional 15 hours for eligible working parents of children from the age of 9 months old (from September 2024).

The extended and expanded entitlements are applied for through the government's Childcare Choices website.

There is further information on EYF available on the Cambridgeshire County Council website.

For those using the Workplace Nurseries Salary Exchange Scheme it is your responsibility to make the necessary changes to your salary exchange arrangement. If you require further information, please contact childcareservices@admin.cam.ac.uk
