Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Fund

Childcare Services offers a SEND Fund to support children with special educational needs and disabilities at:

  • University Workplace Nurseries
  • University of Cambridge Holiday Provision (UCHP)

 

Who can access this fund?

To be eligible:

  • Your child must attend a University Workplace Nursery or UCHP
  • You must be a University of Cambridge staff member or student

 

How it works

  • At University Workplace Nurseries - We will match the funding your child receives from the Special Educational Needs Inclusion Fund (SENIF) provided by Cambridgeshire County Council
  • At UCHP - Support is available if your child is on the SEND school register or has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

 

What the funding can be used for

The fund can help cover costs for:

  • Additional staff to enhance ratios or provide 1:1
  • Special equipment or learning resources
  • Activities that enable your child to participate fully 

 

When will the funding be available?

Applications from University childcare providers can be submitted from 1st September 2025 until 15th August 2026.

 

How to apply

Applications must be made by the University childcare provider. If you believe your child may be eligible, please speak directly with the nursery your child attends or with UCHP.
