Playscheme delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage for children in Reception classes whilst they are attending.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) frames the learning, development and care young children should experience when they are attending a setting outside their family home.
All the prime areas must be delivered through planned, purposeful play, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities. However, non-primary childcare providers, such as ourselves, are not required to formally teach things like reading and writing. There is a strong emphasis on flexible play-based learning which is both adult structured and includes a large proportion of free play.
Children are free to make their own choices about how they play, however we provide individualised opportunities based on each child’s needs. Our planning starts from the child’s interests and motivations and builds their communication and language as well as their physical well-being.
