University run groups are a great way to meet other families and potentially develop new friendships and support.
West Cambridge Stay and Play
Every Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10.30am-12 noon (during school term time) at the West Cambridge Community Room. These sessions are for families with a University connection. Come along and meet other families! Toys, crafts and singing for children aged 0-5 years. Registration and booking is required to join the sessions as numbers are limited. If you are not already registered with the University Stay and Play groups, please email childcare@admin.cam.ac.uk with your name (and the name of the person in your family who is affiliated to the University if it is not you), mobile phone number, address and details of your affiliation to the University. Please use your University email address if possible.
Newcomers and Visiting Scholars
This group supports newly arrived University members and visitors, along with partners and families, who are settling into life in Cambridge. There is a weekly meeting held during term time on a Tuesday from 10.45am-12 noon at the University Centre. There are also a variety of events held throughout the year. More information can be found at Newcomers and Visiting Scholars. One of the groups that they run is the Craft Group every Thursday morning. The purpose of the group is to encourage everyone to develop new skills in knitting and embroidery in a most relaxed atmosphere. Many of our members have produced memorable articles which they have taken back home as very special souvenirs of Cambridge. The group is run by Janet Edwards and Kate Paterson.
